6th Music Book and Sheet Music Fair

05/11/2014
All-day activity programmes with a books and scores show with special discount prices

The Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) will once again hold the major yearly Catalan music publishing event. The two days programme includes talks, round tables, and books and scores display and sale.

On Tuesday the 25th, the ESMUC hall will hold a fair, where the latest novelties as well as full catalogues of Catalan publishers will be on display and for sale at special discount prices. Access to the fair is free and will remain open from 10h to 19h.

Meanwhile, at 12:30h, an open session on Daniel’s ORCHESTRAL MUSIC orchestra and instrumental ensemble coding will be held by Begoña Pérez (OBC) and Àlex Fernández (Banda Municipal de Barcelona) – especially intended for publishers, archivists, documentalists, Orchestra Conduction students, and Library Science and Documentation students. Also, at 15:30h, a round table titled Compositors i editors: un binomi creatiu will be held, analysing the mutually creative and enriching relation between the publisher/editor and the composer.

The day before – 24th November – the Professional Day will take place. Dedicated to Spanish music publishers, activities will deal with the legal aspects of music publishing. At 12:30, lawyer Joaquim Badia will offer a talk on publishing orphan, unpublished and public domain works. At 15:30, Manel Martínez Ribas will be analysing the legal framework for the publishing and distribution of sheet music in the digital age. It is the first time GEMC organises the Professional Day, side by side with the Music Book and Sheet Music Fair. Participation is free applying at [email protected].

This activity programme is made possible thanks to the collaboration of ESMUC and the Gremi d’Editors de Música de Catalumya and the help of ICEC at Departament de Cultura de la Generalitat de Catalunya, SGAE and the SGAE Foundation.
